Parks, Living and
Industry
This page discusses what the Friends of Pukaki Creek
see as important issues that should be addressed as part of the Resource
Management Act. These matters are listed below as principals for developers to
consider for consultation. If you would like to add to the list

What we would like to see in future Resource
Management Decisions in Mangere South
Update Zoning Maps in Operative
District Plan
Currently the Operative District Plan recognises much of the urban area around
Naylor's Drive as Business 5 zoning (light to medium industry) with an
underlying residential focus. This confusion should be cleared up so that the
other matters listed below can be addressed.
Connectivity
Parks
Opportunities exist now to create vegetation corridors and improved public
transport and walkways for the area by addressing these concerns through the
Plan change process and paving the way for our parks to become more widely used
by pedestrians, cyclists and birds.
Cycle Ways
the wonderful cycle way from Auckland City (starting in Onehunga)
is set to be extended through to Ihumatao Rd and the
Gateway business park. This is excellent, however when queried Transport
planners were not sure about how the realignment of George Bolt Memorial will
impact. I wonder if they could give us a nice overhead bridge to improve access
from our little neighbourhood :-)
Steve Patton at the Manukau City Council who is overseeing the
development of cycleways. He has discussed how Transit has committed to
alternative transport and is confident that the realignment and finishing of the
arterial and primary roads will keep in mind the fact that the area deserves
special attention when cycle lanes are mapped.
Buffering Industry We
need to see the areas between urban living and industrial use more clearly
defined but at the same time taking advantage of this by encouraging people to
live closer to where they work.
Support and Opposition to the Draft
